Tunng, "Bullets"

I tend to be a little bit skittish about British folk-pop. Far too often, it sounds like stuff that didn't quite make the soundtrack for the 1973 version of The Wicker Man. Now, don't get me wrong. I actually really enjoyed that film, admittedly more as a testament to the horrific things incredibly pleasant people can do as opposed to a vision of a viable way of life, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. And even though there's some screwed up folksy music in the movie, there are at least two or three pieces that I think are quite lovely. (If you want a real treat, find a copy of Sneaker Pimps' cover of "Hey Ho." It's dead sexy.)

Here's the trouble. There's an indelible link for me between this film and morris dancers, and you all have some idea of my feelings on hankies and jingly bells by now. I don't know if it's exactly a phobia, and it's not quite a hate-on, but man morris dancers get me down. So when a band can take me through all of this and still get me to perk up, take notice, and then start sharing, you can guess that they're something special.

Thanks to caroline for pointing me in this direction.
